These pieces began with white fabric and, in a few cases, white paper. The materials were then dyed, printed, or painted. Most of the pieces shown here were dyed using shibori techniques. Other pieces were snow-dyed, a magical process that involves pouring dye through snow that is piled on top of the fabric, or printed using a deconstructed screen printing technique. The small pieces of fabric were then assembled into larger compositions, mounted on felt or backed with batting and fabric, machine quilted, and sometimes further enhanced with oil pastels, paint or embroidery.
